Our blog has been on a long hiatus - the good kind. Being busy creating unforgettable experiences for my travelers is one of my greatest joys, but I’ve missed this space. It feels like the perfect time to return, and what better topic to start with than the heart of Solutions Travel: the group trip.
When I launched Solutions Travel in 2005, like any new business owner, I had to figure out how to put myself out there. After thinking about the places, I personally wanted to experience, the idea for a group trip took shape. In 2006, our very first Solutions Travel group set sail on a seven‑night cruise to Alaska and the tradition was born.

After thinking about the places, I personally wanted to experience, the idea for a group trip took shape. In 2006, our very first Solutions Travel group set sail on a seven‑night cruise to Alaska and the tradition was born.
Over the last 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of hosting many groups. It’s something I look forward to every single year, especially when we have travelers who are experiencing something for the very first time. From their first cruise, their first trip to Europe, their first time stepping into a destination they’ve only dreamed about. Watching those moments unfold never gets old.
From cruises to escorted tours, with groups ranging from 10 to 50 travelers, we’ve shared so many incredible memories together: lazy sea days in the Caribbean, walking tours through iconic European cities, stepping out onto a glacier in the Canadian Rockies, tapping our toes to pub music in Ireland…the list goes on and on.
To say that I’m grateful you choose to travel with me is an understatement. But beyond the destinations, one of the greatest gifts of a group trip is the connection. The friendships formed on these journeys often last long after the suitcases are unpacked. I love seeing clients who have met on a trip become Facebook friends, grab dinner together, or plan future adventures. Travel brings people together in a way few things can.
So, when it came time to start planning for 2027, Mike and I sat down for our usual “Where should we go next?” conversation. While some trips have been inspired by client suggestions, most have grown from destinations we’re personally excited to experience. And although we rarely repeat a destination, some places are simply worth returning to.
After much thought, research, and the realization that it’s been 16 years since our last visit, we’re thrilled to share that in 2027 we’re heading back to Alaska — our third group trip to this breathtaking destination.
Why Alaska? Why not.
It’s rugged, majestic, peaceful, wild, and unforgettable. Alaska is the kind of place that makes you stop, breathe, take it all in and after 16 years, we’re more than ready to experience that magic again.
In the past, we’ve sailed with Royal Caribbean, but for 2027 we’re changing things up and sailing with Princess Cruises. Why Princess? Because they’re the leader in the Alaska market. They own their own lodges, operate their own rail service, and offer a more intimate ship experience, creating a seamless, immersive Alaska journey… and yes, this will be a land‑and‑sea adventure.
If Alaska is on your bucket list and you want to experience the power of the group trip for yourself…stay tuned. A full brochure and pricing are coming soon.
