Wow, what a crazy world we are currently living in! When the Corona Virus became a huge headline in the media earlier this year, I never imagined the impact it would have on our country and our entire world. In just a few short weeks our world has been turned upside down and the travel industry that I love has come to a screeching halt.
With over twenty years in the travel industry, I could never imagine Disney World closing for several months, cruise lines halting global operations and airports that have turned into ghost towns. The vendors that I work with daily are overwhelmed with cancellations, helping with re-scheduling clients, and refunding those that no longer want to travel. They are doing their best to fairly compensate everyone during these unprecedented times.
For those whose travel plans have been greatly affected by Corona Virus, not only am I sorry, but I am also so thankful for each one of you. You have been gracious, you have been patient, you have been understanding. I have cancelled honeymoons, anniversary trips, spring break vacations and so much more. I am truly thankful to those of you that have postponed travel and will travel later this year or in 2021. For the first time ever, we have had to postpone our annual group trip, which was a difficult but necessary decision to make. I am thankful for the group and their willingness to move the trip to 2021. I have been riding an emotional roller-coaster for weeks and thankful to those that have reached out just to see how I have been doing and to offer words of encouragement.
Being a home-based agent the “new normal” of being home for many people is not that unusual for me. Many of you have visited my home office and I cannot wait until I can once again have in person meetings and talk all things travel. I know that being home-bound is hard, so use this time to fine tune your bucket list and think about what may be at the top of your list for when we can travel again.
Soon life will return to normal. In the meantime, use this time to dream a little and think about the good times to come. I am here to chat by email or phone to answer questions about current vacations or future travel concerns. I am also happy to talk about a future trip, as it is not too early to think about 2021 travel!
Take care, wear your masks when in public and wash your hands!
Until next time!
Courtney
